COURSE: ACRO, DANCE & CIRCUS
QUALIFICATION: LEVEL 3 EXTENDED NATIONAL DIPLOMA
CONTACT HOURS: 25+ PER WEEK

Our ACRO Course sits under the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts. Acro is a style of dance which combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements to fuse together and make an exciting blend of acrobatic movements in a dance context. This unique course, which is provided by our industry trained professionals and the founders of AcroPAD, provides a positive, healthy, creative and well-balanced acro and performing Arts program in various dance styles and theatre arts to give the students the most well rounded training they can get.

Students will develop the technical skills required to achieve their dream, with training included in Tumbling, Acro, Aerial Silks, Hoops, Stilts, Contortion, Acro Partnering as well as still partaking in the core Ballet and Jazz, Commercial and Contemporary Dance. Running alongside your major disciplines, each student will study all aspects of Performing Arts to ensure they are a well-rounded performer with a strong understanding of what’s required within the industry.

Students are encouraged to think about what vocational schools or universities they aspire to gain a place at, based on their expertise. They are advised to attend open days and look through college prospectuses, with help from their tutors at The PAD.  Performance opportunities will arise during the year and where students can apply the performance skills they have learnt in our annual show and with appearances at our local theatre. Going through audition processes and vocational training will give our students the skills required for their final showcase and for their next steps in performing. Students will perform in group pieces and have the opportunity to perform solos and showcase their own work and will be able to perform a variety of styles throughout.

With our acro course being at PAD studios, the students will be lucky enough to use the world leading equipment, AcroPAD, in their lessons, which creates a safe and exciting way of learning different acro skills and transitions throughout the course. Whether it be learning an aerial, back handspring or a tumbling pass, AcroPAD can help give confidence to the students to achieve bigger and better movements to compliment and improve their skillset. Also with full rigging able to be set up in the studios ready for silks, hoops and aerial with AcroPAD spots and blocks set up underneath these, make for an extremely safe environment to learn new skills and up skill and make yourself more employable by the end of the diploma.
